I just noticed that my pictures are showing up under the
desktop background selections.I don't want them there.
How can I prevent them from going there without deleting
the pictures completely.Thanks.

By design, all images in your My Pictures folder
are listed in the Background list. The easiest fix
is to move the files to a different folder.

Move the pictures in your My Pictures
folder to a different location. This will
remove them from the background list.

For the slide show screen saver...
Right click your desktop...choose properties...
Screen saver tab...

Open the drop window and choose...
"My Pictures Slideshow"

Left click the "Settings" button...

Now...Browse to any folder of your choice
to use as the images in the slideshow.

When your choice is made...be sure to
click....Apply / OK...
