I am having trouble viewing my pictures from a floppy
disk.  I viewed them before by going to the desktop,
choosing3.5" drive A.  Now when I try I go to desktop and
it says shortcut to3.5"floppy.  If I go there and insert
the disk, it says disk is not formatted, would you like
to format? (I don't know what that means) If I say yes it
says it will erase all contents of disk.  I am not sure
what to do to find my pictures again.

What happens if you insert the floppy in your
3?" drive and go to...My Computer...and...
Left click the icon for your "3? Floppy (A:)"?

Try a different floppy, that one may be damaged.

I agree. Don't format. It will indeed erase the pictures from your floppy.
Insert the floppy in you drive and click on My Computer. A window will open
and your floppy drive A will be shown as an item. Double click on it to open
it. A green light will come on your drive, just wait for XP to recognize it,
the green light will go off and the files on the floppy will be displayed.
You can now click on the files to open them. A better way is to copy the
files to a folder on your hard drive and then open them from your hard drive
to see them.
