Right click the pic - Save As.

Powerpoint is the only office app designed to save pics.

I already tried this but I get a dialogue box with eg "next" "previous"
"speaker options" "pointer options" NOT "save as".The file has a .pps
extension. Are there different sorts of powerpoint programs?

Thanks

You need to open it in powerpoint I'd imagine. PPS are a show.

Rename it to ppt and it should be ok.

Or type in Start Run
powerpnt
then a space, then drag the file into Start Run.

Shows are started by
powerpnt /s <filename>
Things are edited
powerpnt <filename>

Apart from different registry commands the files are identical I think.
