I had the same problem with that version of kodak easyshare software and no help at the website
The problem is that windows xp wants to use its own drivers for everything when it can, the kodak easyshare software has two distinct software packages included on the disc, the camera connection software, and the easyshare software. the camera connection software is what makes your computer see your camera as a "removable drive" and creates a drive letter for it. In order for the camera connection software to work correctly you will have to
uninstall all kodak software (including the connection software
install it all again without plugging the camera into the compute
don't reboot when prompted! tell it n
then (here is the trick-and it took me hours to find the help and figure it out) turn off the computer, plug in the camera (or dock with the camera in it) then turn on your computer
during startup the camera connection software loads before your windows drivers have a chance to load. It recognizes the camera as a drive first so the windows drivers can't keep the camera connection software from working

ok, another thing, in your application event viewer you will see an information event listed as event id 105 for dcfssvc. this is the windows operating system complaining that it doesn't know what just happened, it will have this event listed everytime you boot up, don't worry about it. dcfssvc is the camera connection software, and it has to load before the windows drivers try to (and windows doesn't like it! lol.

you can take the camera out of the dock, or off of the cord which is still plugged into the computer at any time, but if you unplug the cord (or dock) from the computer, then the computer must be turned off and the cord plugged back into the usb port, then the computer turned back on, in that order

my camera only shows up in device manager under imaging (after I press the button to transfer.) if you can't see it under imaging devices try pressing the button on your dock to transfer, stop the transfer process, then look in 'my computer' for your camera as a drive (mine is drive E:) then look in your device manager under imaging devices and double click it to see if its drivers are enabled
