I understand it is not a scanner. You cannot use an Olympus 5050 to
"acquire" or "take a picture" via this command, period. It is not going to
work, period.
It will work ONLY if you have a scanner or if you have, as I wrote before,
something like a Logitech video cam attached to your computer.
The problem is that this command is confusing. It says "Get pictures from a
scanner or camera". What it means is "Start a scanner or start a camera to
acquire or take a picture from a scanner or camera attached to your computer
capable of doing so". Your Olympus 5050 is not capable of doing so. It is
not a defect of your Olympus 5050 or a defect in XP. NO digital camera is
capable of doing this. So, to download photos from the memory card of your
Olympus camera, forget about this, do it the way you, as you said CAN.

Good news - got it sorted...at least via My Computer which will
do!...problem turned out to be because I had the wrong camera description
loaded....when all reference to cameras was deleted via device manager,
then, when camera connected a Removable disc H appeared in My Computer...and
clicking a couple of times accessed the pics..period. goodho :-)
