I have several hundred photos stored in my "Pictures" Folder. I wish to set
the default view under VIEW-ARRANGE ICONS BY- to - "PICTURE TAKEN ON".
Every time I set it to this it reverts back to "NAME" as the default arrange
method. This is driving me nuts because I have to switch the setting and then
wait for the pictures to resort everytime. Is there a way to make the
settings I choose stick?
I have turned off Auto Arrange as well but it also seems to reappear.
Thanks

Open the folder in Explorer.
Tools/Folder Options/View
Check the box: "Remember each folder's view settings".

By default...WinXP remembers the view settings of
400 folders...maybe you need to increase that number.
Maybe it would be useful to download and install
TweakUI from the following site. It has an option
that will allow you to increase that number...
mine is currently set on 5000. Just open TweakUI
and go to...Explorer / Customizations...after you
increase the number...click...Apply / OK.
