I seem to have deleated al of my photos of my new born baby! I have XP Serv
Pack 2, and using NERO Burning Rom i was trying to burn the photos to a CD
(to back them up). I was in the Express csreen in NERO, dragging "my photos"
from my computer window to the empty CD window, but released the mouse button
too early and let go over the original folder ( "my photos" in my computer
window ). Now all im left with is "copy of my photos" that is empty and "my
photos" folder has disappeared. I have searched my compuer numerous times,
tried a system restore, but cannot find any of them. Somebody please help, I
have no back up of my babys photos. Mr Holland

Hi

System Restore, unfortunately won't help, as it doesn't monitor data files.
If the 'photos were in JPG format try the following from a command prompt:

cd\
dir *.jpg /a/s

Substitute jpg for whatever format the 'photos were in, if different.

The answer from Will will work.
If you are not comfortable with the command prompt, search your photo files
(.jpg) another way.
Click on Start, click on Search and then on All files and folders.
In the box "All or part..." type in exactly this:
*.jpg
Then click on the button More advanced options and check the first three
boxes and click on Search.
This will return all .jpg files on your hard drive in the window to the
right. Change the view to Thumbnails if not in this mode. You should be able
to recognize the photos. Right click on a photo you need and click on "Open
the folder containing this photo" on the opening menu. This should tell you
where the photos are now located.

Thanks for your suggestions. The plot thickens, I have found only 75% of my
photos using your methods, and they appear to be thumbnail pictures, because
they are only 2kb in size when my pictures were 1.5 MB. The pictures I have
found are accompanied by a .jpd file. They are under file located in:
documents and settings\user name\local settings\temp. and they have file
names such as: ~3a7a9469109e9d1c4bcef63282f00
and as mentioned I only have 75% of them????? I have e-mailed Nero software
people but im sure it may take a while for a reply. Any more suggestions?

Thanks for your help guys, panic over. Somehow Nero had managed to put My
photos in 15 subfolders called My Photos. Even though they did not show up in
the search and when i right clicked on the folder it said it was empty -
weird...

Nothing like recovering photos. Particularly of a new baby. Congratulations!
