Can not email pictures using Hotmail

I'm running XP home SP2 and have Hotmail selected as my default email
application. When I select photos in My pictures then click on the "email
these pictures" it allows me to resize then attempts to launch Internet
explorer and tries open hotmail but fails and gives me this error "Server
Error...the resource could no be found...HTTP 404". this started happening
about a month ago . on both my laptop and desktop. Any idea what the issue
is here?

I am also having this problem. The solution from John did not help me.
Hopefully another solution will be posted.
