For some strange reason now when I say to save ANY picture (most commenly
JPEG's) my computer tries to save them as BMP's. I don't know how this came
to be as until about a week ago a Jpeg would save as a Jpeg. To make matters
worse the Bmp's always have the default title of "untiled". Which means the
original file name is lost. I do not know how or why it started this and
more over I do not know how to go back to the way it was before. When I
could click on a Jpeg called (for example) birthdaywish01 and it would SAVE
as a Jpeg called birthdaywish01 instead of an untitled Bmp. Please tell me
how to fix this. Thank you for whatever help you can offer.

What that doesn't say is that it's caused by too large a cache.

I saw lot of answers posted about this and cache was not my problem and it
did not fix it.
This problem dogged me for awhile. I found a work around easily enough.
The problem is created when you install JAVA programs to win xp. When you
click any internet image it comes up to save as an untitled bitmap.
Do this instead, right click and choose> email picture, choose keep
original size>when the letter comes up>drag the attachment to your desktop
or go ahead and mail it to yourself and then use save attachment.
