I use the Screensaver Option “My Pictures Slideshow”, where I can set a
folder as the source.
Is there anyway of accessing “My Pictures Slideshow” directly as an
application rather than via Screensaver?
"Windows Fax and Picture Viewer" doesn’t quite do the job as it can only be
accessed by right-clicking an individual file, and therefore will only view a
single folder.
Alternatively is there any way of pointing "Windows Fax and Picture Viewer"
at a folder?

If you wish to run a slide show that includes
several folders...try the excellent freeware
Irfanview:

Download IrfanView 3.97
http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html
(get the plug-ins too)

Thank you for your prompt reply and advice.
But can you answer my original question?

Probably not to your expectations.

No way that I'm aware of.

Unless you like Rehan's suggestion. Open
a folder that contains image files...click
Slideshow in the Picture Tasks Pane...
press...F11.

The following command line will launch
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Go to...Start / Run and enter the following
(without the quotes)

"rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\System32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen"

[to open a specific folder...add a space
after the word Fullscreen and enter the full
path to the folder] [you can launch a single
image the same way...just add the full path
to the image]

Example: (opening a folder called Paintings
on my hard drive)

"rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\System32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen
C:\Documents and Settings\John Inzer\My Documents\My Pictures\Paintings"

Happy now?

Double click on the first image in the folder to show it in the "Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer" and then press F11 to start the full screen
slideshow.
