After using SyncToy for 3 weeks, I now get the following message:
"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x3dc (988), Thread id=0x4c8 (1224).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application."

The problem was fixed by disabling performance counters for perfproc.dll

Hello,
I had the same problem as you with my Inspiron 9100 (Pentium 4 Hyper
Threading) with Windows XP home. I had a couple of other issues as well and
after saving my pennies have now bought and installed XP Pro. SyncToy
installed straight away and without any problems, so I guess the answer is to
use XP Pro of you have Hyper Threading/multiple processors.
