I have some pictures that somehow changeds their names from *.tif to *.dat.
The thumbnail shows them as video cds. I have no idea how they got that way
but would really like to get them back as they are pics of my mother who is
deceased.
System: Win XP Pro, lots of memory and RAM.
Any thoughts on how to return them to original format would be great. I
have tried to rename them, but the .dat extension will not go away. They
show as *.tif.dat.
Thanks for any help.

If the pictures are not too personal
could you please upload one to the
following site so we could download
it and experiment with it?
"YouSendIt"
http://www.yousendit.com/
All you have to do is enter an e-mail
address in the "To:" (Recipient) field
and click the "Browse" button to select
the file you wish to upload. Then click
the "Send It" button.
The next screen that appears will give
you the download link. Just copy/paste
it into your reply to the newsgroup..

Thank you for uploading the .dat file. I downloaded it
and tried every thing I could think of to decode it and
was unsuccessful. Maybe someone else will give it
a try.

It certainly isn't a .jpg, .gif, or .tif.
