What kind of modem do you have and is it on the Hardware Compatibility list?

Hi bms,
I encountered the same problem. The modem is definately on the HCL because
it is a new Dell desktop. XP even installs the modem driver automatically.
I had the same problem where MS XP fax prog would lockup the computer. BTW
this was really upsetting to me since this was the VP of Finances PC.
I kept working on the Modem and finally said GOODBYE to MS fax. I installed
a seperate fax program and disabled MS fax. I have not had a problem with
the faxing since.
So I guess your hardware is fine two, just get a third party fax prog from
now on.
Glad I am not alone with this issue. Makes me confident the hardware is fine.
Take Care,
Chuck
