My system is running Windows XP Home, on a Toshiba Laptop.
I have downloaded the driver program and drivers, from
Canon for this printer. I have followed all the directions
and all seem ok, until I try to install the multipass
setup. On the Multipass Master installer page, the program
starts and then a popup window appears with the message
that:
Setup cannot proceed without the device connected. Please
make sure to connect the device and try again.
All cables are connected the printer is plugged in but the
installer program does not find it. I have emailed Canon
but have received no answer. I would not like to think
that my Multipass printer is not going to work with
Windows XP, it works fine with ME, but I wanted to upgrade
Windows not buy a new printer.
If you have SP2 installed, you need the hotfix.

I would be interested to know it the Hotfix helps with this particular
problem.
If not, you might have to remove SP2. Try printing. Then, set the update
facility to manual and not allow SP2 installation until you have a
solution. This solution might include revised drivers from Canon.
