printer problem

I have a compaq IJ300. I changed the ink cart. from color to black. When I
aligned it the numbers only print 1/2. my test page is comming out with
double words and 1/2 missing( the bottom of all the words). I know it has
something to do with my printer prefrance. I can not change it from color to
black??
