shouldn't I be able to ping the vpn server once it's connected?  vpn is set
up and connected but I cannot ping the server and cannnot access any file
one the server.  both the server(XP Pro) and client (XP home) are behind
linksys router with port 1723 forwarded.  server has static ip address
192.168.1.3 and when the vpn is connected it also gets 192.168.1.120.  the
client has static ip address of 192.168.1.7 and gets 192.168.1.122 once it
connects.  I tried pinging bother ip addresses but I keep on getting timed
out message.  Also tried accessing the files using server name but no luck.

Are you SURE you're connected to server through VPN?

Try pinging 192.168.1.1.  That's the Linsys router.  This
might be a start.

Try pinging server name.

Hope this helps,

Tony
