I set up a VPN on my and a friends computer. Both WinXP Pro, and used
default settings throughout for the VPN. From his computer I can connect to
mine (I had to disable Zone Alarm on my computer) but I can't see any of my
shared folders. What have I left out?

This could possibly be a name resolution issue. If you have LAN running DNS
or WINS then the remote client cna be configure dto use this, else you need
to use HOSTS or LMHOSTS files on the client to resolve the names of the
machine you need to access.
