I use RealVNC regularly -- it has been a lifesaver for me since I stumbled
across it a couple of years ago.
How does UltraVNC compare? Should I switch?
Are both of these better than the built-in Remote desktop in XP?
One slight annoyance with RealVNC is that the window is never quite the
right size -- I have to do some dragging of the window up, down, or sideways
to get to some of the features of the remote PC. Is there a setting in
RealVNC I should adjust, or would I avoid this problem if I used UltraVNC or
remote desktop?

Better is in the eye of the beholder here.
Comparing the falvors of VNC is up to you - but in my opinion..
UltraVNC and TightVNC are the best out of all the flavors of VNC.
Your scrolling is because you are connecting from a machine that has a
smaller overall resolution than your remote machine.
