Using remote desktop from my one screen home PC to connect to my windows xp
pc at work (6 screens). I log into my existing session on the work PC. I can
only view applications open on the first screen of my work pc. All the other
application are open on the task bar but I can't view them because it is open
on another screen on the work PC.

I am pretty sure RDP always used to crunch my open applications onto one
screen no matter on which screen they were open on my work PC.

I now have to first log off my work PC from the remote session and then log
back on to view my applications all on one screen again. Minor annoyance but
considering the amount of applications I have to open up on logging in again
it takes some time.

Is their any setting I can adjust?

I presume your using the /span option? Anyway I don't do that myself but
from the help writeup it says you need...

"Matches the remote desktop width and height with the local virtual desktop,
spanning across multiple monitors if necessary. To span across monitors, the
monitors must all have the same height and be aligned vertically."

....or....

"
Remote Desktop Connection supports high-resolution displays that can be
spanned across multiple monitors. The monitors must be the same height and
aligned side by side. To have the remote computer's desktop span two
monitors, type Mstsc /span at a command prompt.

Note - This feature is sometimes called continuous resolution. To toggle in
and out of full-screen spanned mode, press CTRL+ALT+BREAK."

I also believe, and I could be wrong about this, but that only works for two
monitors...???

Hi,

I only have one screen at home so spanning is not an option and you are
correct it only works for two screens.

This is what happens:

When you connect from the one screen PC at home to the work PC you are
presented with the desktop and all the apps that were open when I left the
office. However if outlook was say for example open on screen 3 on the work
PC you are unable to see it on the remote desktop session. You know its open
because it appears on the task bar.

When you log off the work PC while connected to it remotely and then log
back in the apps all appear in one screen again.
