Microsoft introduced RDP over SSL/TLS with Windows Server 2003 SP1. Is your
need from XP to a W2K3 Terminal Server? If so, you can use RDP over TLS to
get strong encryption and assurance that you are addressing the right
server. You need the latest RDP client as well. I'm not sure if you can
make it work for XP to XP.

Another option is to use Remote Desktop through a SSH tunnel. That is quite
easy to implement and one I suggest to small office/home office (SoHo) users
all the time.

Hello,
You answered my question on MSN XP working remotely. Sorry to say the
problem is not the connection itself. SSL is already implemented.
I look for an option where the files on the server shall be encrypted and
only available to a sub set of users in the group. They shall also be
protected from Administrators look. I also like to send mails with those
files appended to users outside the server. How shall they open the files?
Something like a PKI solution. We also intend to use some kind o strong
authentication with token or smart card. How to use card readers with a
remote desktop?
Regards,
