RDC connects to my WXP and shows the login screen. When attempting to login,
an error is returned:"unable to login due to account restriction".

Please explain.

Does the account you are attempting to logon as remotely meet the following
conditions:

- Is assigned a password (not blank - an actual password.)
- Is a member of the "Remote Desktop Users" group on the remote machine (by
default - members of the local administrators group are members of the
"Remote Desktop Users" group.)

Thanks! My blank password was the culprit. It is now working!
On to the next issue.
Appreciate the quick, good reply
