Problems Installing Windows Service Pack

I run my Windows XP Professional from D drive (my C drive
is a 31 MB partition I had to put to stop having
the "Invalid BOOT.INI file" error"). When I try to
install the Windows Security Patch 1 in my computer it
tells me there's not enough space even though I have 24
GB free in my D drive. I know that the patch is trying to
install itself in the C drive, but I don't know how to
fix this problem (I always supposed it was going to check
the windir variable). How do I tell the Service Pack
installer to install itself in the D drive?

Jorge;
You can't.
Microsoft has stated there is no workaround.
You need a larger C partition.

My question is why is your c: so full? I have XP on a 3.5 gig partition and
after two years I still have 62% free space! You should never install any
programs to your c: drive. Move your pagefile, move your store folders for
temp internet files and OE or Outlook. Get those programs out of c: If you
do not want to uninstall and reinstall them try this:

but read the info first and follow the recommendation regarding what CANNOT
be moved.

When I formatted my disk I found out that I had to put a rare 30 MB
partition for my Dell Windows XP CD to work correctly. The, I found out
that was my C drive and decided to install everything on my 30 GB D
drive. I have not had any problems except for this.
