my computer one day after I started it had somehow gotten
rid of all of my music and picture files. I have no idea
how to get them back. I assume they are still on my hard
drive somewhere because I did not delete them. I went to
system restore, but had no previous dates so there went
that idea. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!

not sure what happened. you can try a disk undelete
utility (there are a couple, all i have found cost but
some have trial periods).
Its probably easier to insert your backup tape or cd or
whatever you use to backup your important files and
restore from that. If you don't do weekly backups, well,
you have learned something from all this I hope...

Search and Recover is a powerful arsenal of tools designed to instantly
recover deleted, destroyed, and damaged items from your PC. Such items
include files, folders, songs, pictures, videos, programs, critical system
components, web pages, and even e-mail messages. Search and Recover
works with any drive (hard or floppy of any size and format), and can even
recover deleted photos, songs, and more from digital cameras, MP3 players,
USB flash drives, and other digital devices.
