Hi,
We have installed a European version of WinXP Pro. We
first installed critical Win Updates before installing
SP1. Then tried installing SP1, but it couldn't install.
So, we resotred the system back to the time before Win
Updates. 3 patches were retained while the rest were
uninstalled. We tried installing SP1 again, but we got a
message that said the CD Key# is invalid. Are there any
issues between the European version of XP Pro and SP1?
Thanks

If you cannot install SP1, it's likely you acquired an illegal,
pirated, bogus version of Windows XP.
If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update to SP1:
Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)
