I don't know if this is a security threat but my exployer process will sometimes run between to 100,000k and 250,000k. I'm running xp pro 512 ram 160 HD and a 1.6 processor (pentium). Usually what happens as a result is exployer crashes and resets itself and my norton online scanner. The weird thing is I will close all windows and still see it climb in resources being used....usually a restart fixes the problem...not always.Any ideas...this is not spyware.

Did you say "norton" and "online"?
Okay yeah houston we have a problem!

Sounds to me like you've got Norton Internet Security installed on your PC (damn, either I'm good or under demonic influences) if you do, remove it COMPLETELY (delete any left behind registry keys, files, and/or folders left behind after using the stardand add/remove programs way of uninstalling it) and reinstall it all over again). Reactivate, update defs (yes NIS uses defs too), and reconfigure it just as you  would the first time you installed the program.
Your problem should disappear, if not contact symantec (cause I don't work for them)!
