My friend told me about a way to get a message to pop up
when the computer loaded. I know this was done via
regedit. I am the admin on my computer so i can access
the files, i need to know what i need to do to make the
message to appear (Editing files, adding files)
Much thanks if anyone can help

So you want a legal notice to pop on every boot up??? Don't say I didn't warn you!
Open the registry editor and go to this key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system"
Now you will see two REG_SZ (text string) data values named
"legalnoticecaption"
and
"legalnoticetext"
For "legalnoticecaption" you can put something like "Logon Policies" or "Warning" (without the quotes)that will appear at the top of the (don't say I didn't warn you) dialog box that will appear again and again and again....... so forth and so on EVERYTIME YOU REBOOT OR LOG OFF OR SWITCH USERS OR IN SOME REPORTED CASES EVERY STINKING TIME YOU LOCK AND UNLOCK THE WORKSTATION WITH THE WELCOME SCREEN AND/OR FAST USER SWITCHING TURNED ON!! :>
For "legalnoticetext" you can put something like um..
"All users need a password on this system in order to log in" (without the quotes) or something like that.
When you're done reboot or log off/log on for the changes you made to your life to take effect!
P.S. Did I mention that if you have the welcome screen and/or fast user switching enabled that you MUST move the following (if not all) AWAY from your PC
1. Hammer (all kinds)
2. Shotgun (or any firearms AND YES M16'S TOO)
3. Any Industrial Strength Acid(s) (beside you'll just kill
yourself here and not the PC)!
4. Alcoholic beverages (results will be the same as with No. 3 but in this case you won't remember a damn thing)
5. Any other dangerous objects you may use in a psychotic episode to annihilate your PC do to enabling the "legalnoticecaption" and "legalnoticetext".
6. YOURSELF!!!
P.P.S Backup first as aways! :)
