How do I make a backup disk for XP

I have been looking for this for hours nhow and I found this so I hope it leads to something that works. I need to make a backup disk for my computer cause I got a virus and I need to get some files off it before I reformat.

You install the Backup program that is on the XP CD and follow its
instructions.
