Hello, how can I install only usb 2.0 and larger disk access
from SP 2? I don't need the rest, and in fact it interferes
with the installation I need.

If I knew which files those were, could I not extract and
run, or manually install only those files?

Thank you very much in advance.

Just install SP1 instead.

We went over that before.

You do *not* need SP2 for either of those - and quite honestly - unless you
got some new USB card that has (for whatever reason) limited their drivers
to only working in Windows XP if you have SP2 - USB 2.0 works fine without
SP1 or SP2.

If you are having trouble with your USB devices (if the above statement
about some USB card only being supported in SP2 doesn't apply to you), then
you might look here to troubleshoot:

Now - 137+GB HDD support - SP1 would fix that for you..

You never said you could not run SP1.. Only that whatever sad piece of
hardware (a video capture card, you said) you cannot upgrade fails when you
install SP2. =)

As for that Video Capture Card....  How does it rate here?:

Not to mention - have you searched beyond the manufacturer for help in
fixing the issues?  Even the forums here:

Might have someone who could help you out, came across the same trouble,
whatever.  Better to look than just be satisfied with a half-crippled system
because of one card that used to be top-of-the-line. *grin*

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

My XP disc doesn't install USB 2.0.
It's one of the very first released. I'm talking
built in USB 2.0 on an ASUS mother board.
Also a Microstar board. USB 2.0 not installed.
USB 2.0 banged out in device manager. My XP
disk does not install USB 2.0.

The SP 1 thing might be a good idea, but I'm having
trouble getting it over the dial up I have, it d/l's 80
megs, then quits, telling me download is complete,
then, of course, I get the "not an XP application"
messages. Another issue of some kind I"m sure.
So, I haven't tried it out yet.

What I really really really want to know is, how do
I install only USB 2.0 and (if need be once I know
how SP 1 will work) 137+ access? I mean, whyever
I might want to do it. Will the files run by themselves,
must they be put in by an install program, etc. Of course
it *could* be done by someone, for instance MSoft.
But, could I do it?

My XP disk and two separate MB's? My disk
doesn't install USB 2.

It's a Chaintech card, great card, but they're not writing anything
new for it. It works fine until I put in SP2. "Sides,
I don't want all that stuff, I don't need it. It's a
dedicated box.

It's my XP disc. It won't install USB 2.

Thanks for the ideas, btw...

Do you know if/how I could install only USB 2 and/or
not 137+ HD access?
