One day I just turned on my pc and it says that system32/hal.dll (which I
know is Hardware Abstraction Layer) has been removed or corrupted. I borrowed
a windows install CD from a friend, but coulden't understand how to use it so
I used the other computer (this one) to go to microsoft support. It says I
must press R to reinstall the currunt version after I have highllighted it on
the screen where you chose where to install it. I pressed R and nothing
happened, I pressed enter then R and nothing happened, if I don't press R
what button DO I press?

Make sure you have your product key available and that the copy of XP
you are using is compatible with your macine AND your product key. You
cannot use a Home key with a Pro CD and vice versa, nor a retail key
with an OEM CD.
