How corruption free is XP? I clicked on a link to download a newspaper,
the computer did its download thing which didn't work. Do you think XP
might start crashing?

Also, how can I maintain the XP OS?

Depends on the system it's installed on and how much abuse it gets from the
user. My Xp install is corruption free and works perfectly, can't say the
same for my customers PC's after they've had their hands on them for a
while.

Do you know where the "newspaper" was supposed to be downloaded to?  Did you
look there?  Or as my Mother would ask, "Where did you have it last?"
