XP Activation Preventing Log-In

Hi guys,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T30 which I purchased used from jr.com.

It came with XP Pro installed on it.

I tried to activate it, using the key provided on the bottom of my
laptop; but try and try as I might, it wouldn't accept it.

So, I applied the registry edit crack that supposedly gets rid of the
activation process.  It worked, for a while.  I then updated all the
way to SP2, and am(was) running a current version of XP.
Unfortunately, now it won't let me get past the log-on screen.  It
tells me that I must activate windows now, and when I click "Yes" to
do so it says "Windows XP is already activated, click OK to exit".
When I click OK it just kicks me back to the logon screen.

Is there any way that I can fix this?  I can't access the Start menu,
or even the Task Manager!

Please help.

AFAIK T30 were sold from IBM with Win 2000 only but I may be wrong.

This is NOT the key you have to enter for product activation! This is
just the product key you need for install. Please follow the on-screen
instructions (read them!).

You will have to activate Windows first. Simple as that.

You won' t get any help on how to circumvent product activation in this
newsgroup.

Can you boot the computer into Safe Mode?   If so, then try repairing
the registry entries for the .DLL files used by activation:

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Good luck

See if you can get a system recovery CD from IBM, that should work with
your license key.
