I have an OEM version of XP home with SP2.  I am using a 300gb sata drive,
but have no problems using the F6 button to install the sata drivers.  My
problems coms at 58% into the install.  It won't install ks.sys, and goes
downhill from there.  every other file from then on won't copy.

any suggestions?

- check if the cd drive is clean
-  use another computer to verify the CD is not damaged, at very least see
if you can read and copy the ks.sy_ file
- Sometimes making a copy of the cd will work for very minor scratch
- use the Sata drive's utility to verify the drive is good without defect
- last resort: use a smaller partition to install
