I have many XP Pro workstations with single hard drive partitioned as C: and
H:. C: gets all OS components, the bloated $NTUnInstall collection, etc. H:
gets most of the installed apps (Office Suite, Adobe, alt browsers, etc). C:
drive at 8 Gb was a good call 3 years ago; lots of trouble today.
With Vista workstations coming I can carry forward the C: and H: with extra
running of repartitioning tools. Many say I shouldn't bother, just collect
everything on 80Gb hard drives that come with most computers.
Your opinions please on whether I should just ditch the C: and H: system.

IMHO you really don't gain anything by installing apps on a second
partition, if the drive fails you still loose them, if you have to reinstall
(not repair) your OS you still have to reinstall your apps. There are
usually still files that get installed on the system partition when
installing apps to a non system partition. Just my .02
