I've reloaded XP Pro onto my PC's hard-drive to upgrade and improve it.
However, when setting it up I was asked if I wanted to save the old files. I
did save the old files which contained pictures of my children and many
files and links that I need and want. Once set up I went in to rhe explore
all user (right clicked on start) and clicked on the old file on the
hard-drive. I've recieved a statement telling me I am not authorized to veiw
these files. I really need some advice here because these files are
essential for me. Please advise. jrpenwarden@hotmail.com

I am unsure how 'reloading' would upgrade anything. ;-)

*How* are you reloading? From your description - this sounds like some sort
of OEM method of nondestructive/destructive recovery solution and not a true
installation (repair install, clean install or parallel install...) Is what
you are using an actual Windows XP Professional installation CD and you boot
from it and get to choose where you will be installing - or is it something
else entirely?
In any case - it sounds like you need to take ownership of the
files/folders...
