I am part of a software development company and we are using SQL Server 2005
Express edition as our database.  The installation for this requires the user
to have XP SP2 installed.

However, many of our customers have their computers using our software on
farms in rural areas and don't have any internet connection at all.

Is it legal for our company to download the multiple-computer installation
file for xp sp2 and have it be on our software cd so they can run it if
necessary?

Thanks

The IT version of Service Pack 2 is available to anyone.
You can download it and give it to a friend/family
member/co-worker/aquaintance, etc...

I do not know if you can distribute it *with* your software as part of your
installation process - but I can see no problem with you giving away a
seperate CD for them to install if needed.  After all - they can order the
CD from Microsoft on their own if they wish or download it or have someone
they know download it and give it to them if they trust them....
