hello. I got a new computer w WinXP Pro SP2 but I had problems with the
add-on video card so i removed it (and kept the on-board one). As soon as I
did this windows behaves as if it needs (re)activation. Unfortunately I am
unable to activate.

- if I boot into safe mode i can login fine but of course I cannot activate
(under safe mode)
- if I boot normally and I try to login, I get a "cannot load user profile
etc" message and then I am asked to "Activate windows". I click yes and I am
returned to the login screen. I don't get any activation screen or anything.
Windows doesn't activate.
- i followed the suggestion in KB 330136 and did a repair installation
(using a slipstreamed XP Pro SP2 CD). Again Safe Mode login works but normal
login fails. I get the "cannot load user profile" message and then I get a
pop windows that says nothing, only has an OK button that logs me off when I
click on it.
- per some other postings I went into safe mode and did regsvr32 regwizc.dll
and regsvr32 licdll.dll. I then did normal reboot but got the same problem.

The original windows activation happened less than two months ago. Also the
only hardware change is the video card. So in theory I shouldn't have to
reactivate, let alone being unable to do it.

I have hit a dead-end. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am in despair...
:-(

thanks
christos

Thier is a "change product key" utility from microsoft,if you can locate it
thru search.Even on an activated pc,the user can still use original product
key, maybe the new files will end youre problem....Also,so much for "repair".
