I just replaced my hard drive and when trying to install my operating system
onto it I get almost to the end and then I get this error:

syntax error in manifest or policy file
D:\i386\asms\10\msft\windows\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MAN on line 4
Signature

Can anyone help me resolve this error?

I setup the drive to have only one partition which is C:> so I don't know
why it says D: but it does.
I have a emachines W3118 and the new hard drive was suggested by the
manufacturer.
Thank you!

Is the old hd physically disconected,if so is the new jumper pins set
properly.
Either way,boot to xp cd,select install xp,delete the partition(s),create
one,
then let xp format & reinstall auto.

No it is not, I have the new drive jumper set as the master. When I put in
the cd it starts where it left off and I dont get to decide the partition so
how do I cancel setup? it almost made it to the end but not quite.
