Windows XP Professional will not boot

I cannot enter my windows XP Professional.  Every time I turn on my computer,
it gets as far as the screen where I have the choice to pick Microsoft XP or
Microsoft
(C: prompt)  I have not been able to enter Windows XP in Safe Mode, Debugging
Mode or the last known good configuration.  When I choose the Directory
Services debugging mode, I get this error message:  cannot determine file
systems of drive
\??\volume{d524d690-2C6e-11da-93db-0030bd6E000f .  Is there a command that I
can enter at the C: prompt to get into Windows XP, so that I can restore the
system?

The MS manual WindowsXP Inside Out says (p.802)
"Directory Services Restore Mode . . . is only used . . .
running Windows 2000 Server or Windows NET Server.  Ignore it."
"Debugging Mode . . . To take advantage of this capability you
must connect the system to another computer using a serial
connection on COM2."

You may need to reboot from a bootable CD.

most likely you are installing a drive that is not supported by your bios
you may need a separate pci controller w/ its own bios & cables that can
support your drive
