I have a copy of windows 98, and im trying to upgrade to
XP. Ive tried serveral times without success. When i try
to run the XP upgrade advisor, I get the 'blue screen of
death' with the message:

Fatal exception 6 - 0028:00000017

It always happens when the application is examining
the 'DVD Movie Player' within the hardware setup - but I
dont have DVD player on my PC, only a CD rewriter!!!

Does any one have any ideas/suggestions?

Solved by installing DirectX 9.0b in Win98SE. After that the Upgrad
Advisor didn't hang anymore on DVD Movie Player.
