Error on installation

I got an error on an existing XP system.  The error said
something about not finding a winsys32 file and  to put in
the installation CD.  As ever, I couldn't find the
original installation disks so I went out and bought a new
XP home edition CD.  Put the disk in and it started
installing and stopped.

I got a error message(s) that tells me "can not
delete /remove product catalog ieexcep.cat, oeexcep.cat
and spi.cat.   Singature for WinXP Home Edition is
invalid.  Error code fffffdda      The system cannot find
message text number Oxfffffdda in the message file for
svssetup.dll"

I took the CD out, rebooted and it is locked in the setup
routine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Joe
