Have a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'. If any are found could
you please post the Event ID and Source?

First step Right click My Computer and select properties.
On the System properties window click on Advanced Tab then on Startup and
Recovery button, and make sure
it's NOT set to [ ] automatically reboot on a System Failure error
[Uncheck this Box].

Other causes:
- Bad power supply, not clean current or another device in the House causing
a flaky power supply to this machine.
- Try another PC if you have one and see if that issue will appear on that
well known working one.
- Run a Diagnostic Check on your Hard Drive, the CD/DVD may created a dirty
bit on the clusters.
- Try to Uninstall and Reinstall the CD-ROM from Device Manager this can
solved unknown issue may not picked up by the Event Viewer as sometimes not
accurate recording event can occur.
- Overheated Ssyte can cause this scenario.
- Bad RAM or Less RAM installed can cause this, so Test your RAM from here:
- Run Disk CleanUp and Defrag in safe Mode.

thank you first step seemed to do the trick buy unchecking the box, ran
diagnostic check on hard drive it was ok also ran disk cleanup and defrag in
safe mode looks like it has fixed the problem

Hi Dawnlee,
Yes that will stop the Restart but will not stop the Error or the problem!.

Try to look in the Device manager for Any malfunction Devices or conflict,
to access the device manager do the following:
Right click My Computer and select Properties then click Hardware Tab.
On Hardware click Device Manager, there Click on the [+] to expand to become
[-] and look for the sub-devices and see if there are any failed one or
conflict.
Look in the Event Viewer by Opening the Run Command and type in:
eventvwr click [OK] and there look for any Error messages (X) and double
click them to get more Info about the causer of the problem/error.
You could be done and dusted but to be sure the Error will not evolve to
major problem.

hi nass ,yes expanded in the device manager under human interface devices
there was exclamation! unknown device looked in the Event viewer as you
suggested quite a few errors there ,and warnings what do i need to do now ?

Hi Dawnlee,
Well the Human Interface Device refer to an USB or External Drive or device
like your DVD writer is it External?.
Try to go to the services and make sure the Human Interface service started
Automatically or Manually, to access services do the following:

Open a run command and type in:
services.msc click [OK] there scroll down it will be in alphabetical
order to Human Interface service and start it.

Also in the Event Viewer you need to Double click the Error message to get
more Info about the culprit causing this error and you can copy and paste in
your next post, otherwise I don't know what this error is or what to do about
it!.

okay nass restarted HIS the DVD Writer is internal , it seems to be working
fine now. i will have a look through errors to find the culprit if i find
what i think may be the error will post, kind regards dawnlee
