memory is now sold
with very specific specifications.

did you double check your
motherboard maker website for
the exact requirements of
the memory upgrade?

does you cmos/bios
register you memory correctly.

if the memory is exactly
the model for your motherboard
and the cmos registries are
correct, eg parity, overclocking, etc...

then it sounds like the cpu
or the ram is overheating at the
time you need peak performance.

 Back in February, I replaced two 256MB memory modules with 1 GB memory
 modules and ever since I have had a rash of problems with my computer.  Many
 of these are shutdowns.  I am wondering if one or both of the memory modules
 could be causing the problems.  I have had Windows messages that indicate
 that there are driver problems, but when I run my Dell Driver Reset tool,
 there are no errors detected.  I ran a check on the memory with System Suite
 and did get a parity error once.  I am unable to determine if this is a
 hardware or software problem.  Windows System Information module did not
 identify any problem devices or other hardware. Sorry if there is too much
 or not enough information. Any help is appreciated.

Do you stil have the 256 mb modules?   If so then try removing the 1
gb modules and installing the 256s.   Run the computer that way for
several days.  If the problems go away then you have your answer - it
is the new memory.
