workstation date changed to 1970

one of our workstations keeps making the year 1970. I have scanned it for
spyware and virsus.

What else could be doing it?

What type of machine is this (make/model)?
Is its BIOS updated to the latest version?

Dell Precision 650, BIOS A05. that is the current BIOS.

The CMOS battery has likely died.  Replace it.  It's one of those little
coin types on the mobo.
