I have been running Windows XP for some years now.  I recently noticed
that the righthand parenthesis (Shift+zero) does not work (nothing,
not even a black space, appears)  in a session unless and until I hit
the CTRL key, and then the parenthesis works for the remainder of the
session.

I thought this was a defect with my keyboard, but I replaced the
keyboard and still have the same problem.

I'd appreciate instructions, explanation, or whatever.

Your best bet to find the problem is to locate the keyboard dialog box-
Start, control panel, printers and other hardware, keyboard. Click the
hardware tab. There will be a "device status" message. If the message says
device is working properly, click the troubleshoot button. You should be able
to find something helpful there.

Thank you enormously!!!
The rest of you may think that this was moronic easy .... I am
definitely non-techie but I went through a dozen expensive books on
the XP without finding an answer.
