I have been trying to download and use Easy Transfer software to my XP desktop so I can transfer files to a new laptop. I can download the program but when I try to run it, I get the opening screen but when I click next, nothing happens. Finally I have to use ctl/alt/del to get to task manager and close the non responding program. Solutions?  Signaturedew Are you referring to Easy Transfer Companion? There's a difference between it and Easy Transfer. Here's a quote from the article cited below: [quote] WETC is designed to transfer installed programs from one computer to another computer. [end quote] It appears that the Easy Transfer utility is only included in Windows Vista and is not downloadable, but I may be wrong.
