Hello,

Do I need to reinstall Windows XP Pro after I replace the processor from a
P4 northwood to a P4 Prescott and memory upgrade ?

I'm replacing the processor because it gives me overclocking errors as soon
as I try to set BIOS for turbo mode, or increase the memory speed to where
it is rated for.  My CPU and memory are DDR400, but all I can get is 266.
I've read that the Prescott processors are more forgiving and are a
technology upgrade.

I'm going to add 2 Gbytes of memory to the 1 GB that is already there.

Any suggestions or advise?

thanks,

Shaun

You should not have to reinstall Windows XP if all you are doing is changing the CPU and memory.
But it is always wise to backup your personal files when you intend to mess with your computer.
