explorer problem

Daughters laptop has a very annoying problem. Randomly a message will
appear saying explorer has an error and must be restarted. Clicking
any of the 3 options causes the status bar to vanish and then reappear
as explorer restarts.  Odd thing is that if she moves the message away
to the edge of the screen she can carry on using the laptop fine ?

XP Media Center edition and fully patched.

Any ideas please?

cheers,

Hi,
Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?

If Windows Explorer, is a particular program running when this happens?

If Internet Explorer, is a particular website being accessed?

What brings it on?  Are you using left or right click.

Does it occur when you are using particularly functions in Windows
Explorer e.g. copy / paste or whatever? Alternatively does it occur when
you try to open a particular type of file?

You will find an Error Report in Event Viewer, which may suggest where
the problem might lie. In any event the posting of a copy of the report
would seem sensible.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

You missed the Organisation details?

Or perhaps you didn't!

For others less familiar with the individual concerned please note the
use of MVP as distinguished from MS MVP, which is used by Microsoft
accredited contributors to the newsgroups.

What info would I put into this search to see the picture of yourself you
post on your site?
https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/communities/mvp.aspx?

If you can't do that, you are obviously a fake.

Now why would I give you that information and why are you bringing up this
discussion again. Are all of you (not all) that dense and incoherent. I have
the right to keep my identification private on Usenet and I choose to do so,
stop asking. Microsoft agrees with and there is nothing they can do about it
anyway so just drop it. If you want to manually search thru the 4000 plus
MVP profiles until you find me then be my guest otherwise shut up.

The PITA is you. I did nothing to you or anybody and all of a sudden you
start talking crap about me because of something you read that has
absolutely nothing to do with you. You are the PITA not me.

Yes, This person could easily post on the web interface to show the MVP
logo, without yielding any info. It's just another dodge. That one just hit
my killfile, for sure.
