I found the above article my Tony Northrup very helpful, in theory.  Will the
instructions contained in the article still hold true for PhotoStory 3,
please?

Yes...the Retail version of PS2 has an
option to create a VCD.

The free version of PS3 does not have
an option to create a VCD.

The only version of PS3 that has the VCD
option is version 3.1 that is included in the
retail version of MS Digital Image Suite
2006.

If you have the retail version of PS2...
(obtained by installing MS Plus! Digital
Media Edition). It's possible to create a
photostory with PS3...rename the file and
use PS2 to create a VCD.

I only mentioned that it was possible...if
you wish to know the deepest dark secret
on *how* it's done...read the following:

How to open a Movie Maker .wmv file or
a PhotoStory 3 .wmv file in the retail version
of PhotoStory 2 and burn a VCD.

First...create a new folder on your desktop
and name it PhotoStory.

Now, create a PhotoStory in PhotoStory2
with just one image...save the .wmv file
in your new folder.

Next...rename your completed Movie Maker
.wmv or PS3 .wmv file exactly the same
name as the Photo Story file.

Next...copy/paste the Movie Maker file into
the PhotoStory folder.

You should see a dialog box that says:

Would you like to replace the existing file
with this one?

Click...Yes.

Now...if you reopen PhotoStory2 and select:
"Play a Story or Use a Story to Create a VCD"
Your renamed file should be available.

Good luck.

Many thanks John.  No wonder I had problems with PS3, free version.  You have
saved me a lot of time and effort.  Is the Digital Image Suite 2006 worth
getting?

You're welcome.

Thanks for the update.

Personally, I like DIS2006 very much...here
are a couple of reviews of the program:

Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Review

Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006

And...you can test drive the 2006 program if
you're interested:

Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006
is a downloadable 60 day trial version with
much of the functionality of MS Digital Image
Suite 2006.

Once your 60 day trial period has ended, the
program will de-feature to minimal functionality.

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and does
not support RAW files.

Be aware that it's a 109 MB download....
