Can play vids but cant seek through them?

Just updated to media player 11. I had not updated in a long time so Im not
sure which version i had before this.

Anyway my problem is i can play videos i have saved on my computer but it
seems like once they are playing i have no way to move the seek bar to
different points in the video. I can highlight the seek bar but dragging it
does nothing and when I let go, the video starts again from the beginning....
this never used to happen. any ideas?
