It's possible that your PC is not fast enough,or you have something that is running in the background and using up resources. Can you tell us the spec of your gateway PC please. XP will work with 512MB of ram, but not too well with video applications that seem to need a lot of memory. I would be inclined to suggest you upgrade to at least 1GB of ram if you intend doing video work, but also look into what is running in the background when the PC is idle. Just do a ctrl/alt/delete key press and click on processes to bring up a list of what's running and post it here.
